Welcome to Café Art London

Other | Wednesday 9th November 2016 | Cristina

It’s been a tough morning for the UK – most of us deeply resent Donald Trump’s rise to power. Of course that’s to say nothing about the dismay of every American who voted against Trump, and of everyone and everything worldwide negatively affected by Trump’s victory. In protest of worldwide anxiety, I decided to spend this morning plugging a great London-based charity which deserves people’s attention far more than a hollow, tangoed, politician-goblin.

Café Art has received loads of press attention in the UK and overseas – it’s a unique initiative that links homeless charities to cafes in London, getting artwork by those affected by homelessness from the hands of the homeless to the walls of the public. Café Art doesn’t discriminate the quality or nature of artwork. Many cafes are involved in the project, including Camera Café, Taylor St Baristas, Madam Chi, Bloomsbury Café, Soho Coffee Club and Oliver’s Village Café.

You can get involved in a lot of different ways. The main way is to head to the cafes to see the art selected and exhibited by Café Art, contribute to the cafes and leave feedback online. You can volunteer with Café Art or offer your café as a venue by getting in touch online or emailing info@cafeart.com.  You can also order the Café Art 2017 calendar online, or catch it being sold at Spitalfields Art Market.
