Futurebound talks VIPER:100

Drum and Bass | Wednesday 5th October 2016 | Arren

Futurebound on his label's cause for celebration.

The mighty Viper Recordings have reached the 100 releases milestone. In light of this achievement the label are throwing a huge party here in London with a big line up featuring epic back to backs and some of the scenes leading names.

They'll be taking over Fire on November 25th for one of the biggest drum & bass parties in London this year. It's a massive deal and we can't wait for this one! We had a quick chat with label head Futurebound about Viper:100, what it means and what we can expect in the future.

How does it feel to have Viper Recordings hitting 100 releases?
It feels like a very special moment. When I launched the label I knew exactly how I wanted the label to operate, but to reach your 100th release is a huge milestone for anyone. Without blowing our own trumpet too hard I can honestly say we've done it the right way by only releasing top notch music, it wasn't about releasing as many tracks as possible it was always about releasing music that seriously caught my ear, regardless of the status of an artist.

Alongside the 100 release on Viper we've also had 30 solid singles on our sister label VIPER V.I.P and another 20 on METRO/VIPER which is purely for Matrix & Futurebound releases.

We've released music and helped launch careers for people like Brookes Brothers, Nero, Camo & Krooked, DC Breaks, Inside Info, ShockOne, Metrik, Jaguar Skills right through to the latest new guys like Mob Tactics, Bmotion and Dossa & Locuzzed...the list is long and when I look back I'm like; WOW that catalogue ain't bad at all!

ShockOne - Polygon, one of his earlier tracks from his career.

What are your plans for the future now that you've surpassed that milestone?
It's took us 12 years to get to 100 releases, so it's about more of the same for the future but better!!

As well as releasing big hitters from well established names we've always been about nurturing the best new talent and creating a long successful paths in the industry for them. Everything in this life is about the future, so we're always looking for the next guy to carry the dnb baton.

I would also really like to find some more girl producers and dj's because for me there's not enough females doing their thing in the game. I've found an absolute gem girl producer from New Zealand though who we'll be unveiling real soon.

What we can expect from the Viper 100 party?
A Minor Riot!! Pure & Simple.

We've had a series of great shows for VIPER:LIVE at Fabric (R.I.P) over the last 18 months but obviously with that shutting we had to rethink our plans.

When thinking of other venues to host our VIPER:100 show, Fire was the instant reaction from the whole team. We had so many great nights in there for the 2014 VIPER:LIVE events. Every night we did there was sold out and complete carnage on the floor, so we can't wait to get back in there and rip up the new sound system they've installed.
