Black Spuma: Italo house with a modern twist

House | Thursday 1st September 2016 |

Made up of Fabrizio Mammarello of Telespazio and Phillip Lauer of Tuff City Kids and Talamanca System, the duo came together through remixing one another's music and a relationship was born, baring a signature sound that melds 90s Italo house, disco, electro and indie dance. This is where the magic is, in their capacity to blend the old school love with current day necessity. Simply close your eyes and picture the waters of the Balearic Islands as they weave their sound. Both successful artists prior to connection, between them they have released on Cocoon, Hell Yeah, Brontosaurus, International Feel, Running Back, Get Physical, Hypercolour and Beats in Space, to name but a few.

Metallo Nero is the new single from their latest EP Onda, out now on International Feel Recordings. It's a finely crafted combination of funky bottom end bass, claps that throw you back, keys that breathe good times and a xylophone reminiscent of dreamy beach days and carnival. Topping it off, a bass line somewhere between uplifting euphoria and alternative indie dance empowers a confident sound reminding you what house is all about. Finally there is a subtle depth towards the end for, dare I say… reflection? You could easily hear this in the building portion of a Bicep Boiler Room set. And that is a very good thing.

Back Spuma are on Soundlcoud.
