While POPETC is enlightening Winnipeg, Canada at the moment, the world is tuning into their unique new sound. Time to hop in, eh?
Indie is limiting to say the least when it comes to this band’s sound. Echoing it’s name, POPETC includes a blend of genres (Rock, Hip hop, Reggae, Blues, etc) to create a work of art that touches any soul. Beginning as the Morning Benders, this California born band released songs from their album Big Echo such as ‘Excuses’ and ‘Damnit Anna’ who’s sensitive and Beatles-esque touch made any indie-lover's appreciation blossom. Now, as POPETC, their music and sound crosses various boundaries (including the human one, as vampires sang along in Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn).
POPETC is one of those intelligent bands who’s lyrics, sound, and video, line up to create a singular experience. Paired with the lead singer’s American boyish charm, it’s mature and nostalgic lyrics hold an incredible amount of depth and emotion; even if its just for their poetry, this band must be heard. After gaining recognition on the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn soundtrack, POPETC deserves to gain recognition everywhere, so get listening now! Their latest self-titled album POPETC is now available on itunes so begin with ‘Speak up’ and ‘Keep it For Your own’ and sit back and reminisce on old, new, and dream loves. Don’t forget to check out POPETC’s acoustic versions because lead singer Chris Chu's voice is just so good naked.
