Sunfall set to to rise
Stepping out of the taxi at Herne Hill, you knew you’d arrived at Sunfall. As soon as we turned into Brockwell Park, we were welcomed by booming basslines and what a welcome it was.
Rolling up to the mainstage, Moodymann was in setting the vibe for what promised to be a great day of music. His set was classic with bags full of personality, his own #BlackLivesMatter shout out, funky beats and disco grooves. In true Moodymann style, he took to the mic later on to dis the security who were strongly against him giving out drinks & t-shirts to a crowd of very happy fans. What a start.
Goldie and dBridge had control of the South stage with a hardcore contingent of drum and bass fans dancing to straight tunes. The two masters working together had the tent in the palm of their hands.
Headliner Jamie xx rolled out the evening with a set that was packed full of his hits and crowd pleasers, perfectly suited to to sun setting behind the crowd.
Sunfall has set itself up to be a permanent fixture in ethe festival diary from now on and we look forward to seeing it back again next year.
