Some kind of vooodoo

Indie | Monday 1st February 2016 | John

From the early age of 13 Sam has had an un-deniable passion for all things guitar; What started as a forbidden listen to AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ album on his fathers tape player soon developed into something of great musical diversity, adaptation and all round dedication to perfection.

2007 saw The Sugarman gain his first break as guitarist for local blues bruisers ‘Ripslide’. The band garnered interest and were soon frequenting the local club circuit resulting in the prestigious ‘BASINGSTOKE LIVE’ festival, with Sam becoming a go-to session man for local acts.

Having built up a reputation as a reliable and competent player, he lent his guitar skills to sessions that showcased his incredible array of styles, including; Jazz, Country, Blues, Heavy Metal and Progressive but to name a few,  It was always going to come back to what was at heart; the blues.

This Hampshire UK Blues Superstars are without any doubt in my mind as close as you can ever compare to Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and by judging the audience reactions from their recent sold out Live Gigs the crowd agrees...

That retro feel of kicking back and listening to such legends as Cream, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Free was the exact same vibe I got when experiencing the live sound from Sugarman Sam and the VooDoo Men recently in a small club Mid Sussex...

The atmoshere was electric as Sam ripped guitar lyrical chords with wild abandonment and lustfull wantant desire, exploring the inner chant of the chords progression, spining it down, caressing the notes enticing the guitar in an evocative manner to bring the rythmic tension to a smooth chilled regress, before thundering back again with a wild release to your solar plexus ripping at your chest with a possesed chord frenzy mayhem,  sending the crown into whoops and spontanious wraps of applause throughout the whole set.....

Sugarman Sam playing classic british blues/rock with The Voodoo Men is where the band shines best and playing live is just where they'll be..! Sugarman Sam & The Voodoo Men have 2016 gig dates filling fast plus single & album releases due for completion soon....

It looks live everyone wants a piece of the Sugar and who can blame them ?..I suggest you get to see them soon, These guys are about to hit the UK on tour soon please check their social pages HERE for that juicy info....

I cannot wait to experience this again and invite you to join me

Until then ChillBaby !!!.....Johnny Zykotika
