BPI grants available to UK artists going global

Other | Monday 4th January 2016 | Cristina

In September 2013, BPI launched the Music Export Growth Scheme (MEGS), funded by UKTI. The BPI says it is ‘designed to make available grants ranging from £5,000–£50,000 to UK-registered independent music companies to assist them with marketing campaigns when looking to introduce successful UK music projects overseas’.

Recently a further £200,000 has been made available to the scheme’s selected UK-based music companies, largely directed towards the thirteen music companies selected by MEGS in round 7 of the scheme.

The thirteen music companies selected take care of the following acts and writers:

  • Catfish and the Bottlemen (British band originally from North Wales)
  • Crystal Fighters (formed in London)
  • Denai Moore (from Spanish Town, Jamaica)
  • Ephemerals (from London)
  • Songwriters Greig Watts (Elstead), Georgie Dennis (Norwich)  and Christopher Wortley (Southampton)
  • Kero Kero Bonito (from London)
  • Lower Than Atlantis (from Watford)
  • Martin Harley (from Hertfordshire)
  • Max McElligot (from London)
  • Moulettes (originally from Glastonbury, relocated to Brighton)
  • Petite Noir (from London and Cape Town)
  • The Bohicas (Essex)
  • The Twilight Sad (Glasgow)
  • Turbowolf (from Bristol)

Information regarding MEGS round 8 will be available soon.
