The 1970s has become one of the most iconic decades for fashion. These 10 years were the ultimate in groovy, far out styles, taking elements of the 60s, and making them more flamboyant! The decade had it all, primarily known for the hippie chic look, it also saw a rise in power dressing, glam rock and punk.
Fast forward to the summer of 2015 and this season we are stepping back in time to the 70s, to embrace this retro trend. Once again fringe, suede, flares and platforms are dominating SS15 runway shows, as modern-day designers are inspired by the icons of the era.
So you will want to make sure your wardrobe is up-to-date with the some staple 70s pieces. Here are 6 items you must invest in this summer to ensure you look like you have stepped straight out of the 1970s.
Flares
It is time to put the skinny jeans to the back of the wardrobe and dust off the flares! A pair of super-size denim or suede flares, the bigger the better, will instantly give any outfit a 70s vibe. Team them with psychedelic florals and round framed sunnies to really nail the 70s hippy look.
Boho Blouse
