Pop phenomenon Years & Years deliver Communion

After promising releases on French music label Kitsuné, Years & Years have build a solid reputation in the UK and are becoming a pop phenomenon. They are one of the biggest pop bands of the moment, with many listeners considering their single 'King' the song of the summer.
The band is ready to conquer Europe and beyond, so what can we say about their first LP Communion? Heavy on the synth-pop, it's an accomplished record, something that we expected from the BBC Sound Of 2015 winners. The music they've made is simple but rich and is going to make you dance all summer long.
Bassist Michael Goldworthy, synth man Emre Turkmen and vocalist Olly Alexander (who also has fledgling acting career under his belt having appeared in Skins and The Riot Club) know their style - house and R&B influenced - and are sticking to it, with strong rhythms and fresh melodies keeping it summery. The singles are very strong but it's the new songs that we didn't know before that keep the album surprising. The piano ballad-esque 'Without' and 'Worship' bring a new energy and help gel the musical journey of the record.
Communion is brimming with razor-sharp summer pop anthems that succeed in bringing a smile to your face time and time again.
