Whilst The Strypes seem to be getting all the attention from retro-rockers, Heavenly Recordings' latest signings Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs prove that they are a more promising outfit than their Irish rivals. Channeling 1970s New York rock sensibilities with breezy glam-infused guitars, the band have already toured with good friends Toy and The Horrors. Boyer is not someone to find the colossal expectations distracting though - "I love Television, I love the Velvets" he enthuses, "if someone is comparing us to them then it can only be a good thing". The band have a big name producer in Orange Juice's Edwyn Collins, and their debut record Clarietta was released last week. It features brilliant infectious hooks and an amalgamation of a host of great influences. "I want the second record to be twice as good as the first" Boyer claims. If it is, then this London band are in for a long and healthy career.
