The British band also known as 'The Violets' from Lambeth, London release Danger In The Club after signed to Rough Trade Records. Formed in 2009 and after a critically acclaimed first release, the four members of this indie/garage rock group are back with a new and punchy LP! They have retained the sound we already know and love but their songwriting has become more adult - tracks such as 'Matador' and 'Coming Over To My Place' showcase their development.
Danger In The Club is an exuberant and somewhat defiant album with occasional pessimistic and bitter moments. The record takes us back to the great years of British rock music; Palma Violets sound a bit like The Clash and have summarised all their influences in this second release. We can see they worked hard on being a more professional band without losing the fun of recording and being on stage. We saw them Monday for a private gig at Rough Trade East. There was a lot of energy and the sound was crazy live! People jumping all around on and in front of the stage, by all accounts it was a storming set.
Palma Violets seem to have found a way to rush into a storm that is blowing everything their way and it looks like they're not planning to stop now! Listen to 'Danger In The Club' below:
