Bloc Party to go on hiatus. Again.

Indie | Friday 14th June 2013 | James

Yep, you read it right. Bloc Party have seemingly only been back together a matter of moments and are already filing for yet another divorce. The hiatus is set to occur after their festival shows this summer with band members hinting the break could last as long as three years. Naturally, 2016 is a long wait for yet another Bloc Party album.

The band originally split in 2009 for a two-year break with frontman Kele Okereke releasing a solo record. The aim is, once again, to allow band members to "do their own thing" without making relations in the band "toxic" (as described by Okereke last year). The band re-connected last year and released their latest recod Four which peaked at a disappointing number three in the UK Chart.

Thankfully, it's not all bad news for Bloc Party fans. The band will continue to play European festivals throughout the summer before they release a farewell EP in the autumn.
