If your not wearing Air Max’s right now, go and change your shoes because Nike Air Max Day is upon us people! This “holiday” was started last year to commemorate the release of the original Air Max 1’s, way back in 1987.
Ok so it’s not a holiday, but it gives us an excuse to Instagram our trainers, and it gives Nike an excuse to drop their latest kicks, the Air Max Zero. The Zero’s are “the one before the 1” because they’re based on sketches that trainer mastermind Tinker Hatfield drew before he designed the Air Max 1. The clean design and classic look, coupled with the latest trainer technology, makes the Air Max Zero the perfect release on the perfect release date.
The original Air Max’s, designed by Hatfield, brought a revolutionary engineering edge to the trainer game. They were specifically built for running, and featured a visible Air cushioning unit for the first time, inspired by the inside-out architecture of the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
Hundreds of millions of pairs of Air Max’s have been sold around the world, and Nike’s new drop looks set to tack a few more onto that figure.
