Paper Crowns: Indie and folk combine to form this excellent duo

Indie | Monday 10th June 2013 | Keshav

In an era where music seems to be about big production, synthesisers and image it’s refreshing to see a band like the ‘Paper Crowns’.

Armed with an acoustic guitar and a violin the duo from Glasgow are sure to go on to big things.  What makes them stand out amongst a very large crowd of up and coming bands are their beautifully written lyrics and supreme musical ability. As a young singer you would expect guitarist Jack McLuckie to find it difficult to string together  heartfelt lyrics however when the teenager year old puts pen to paper it’s a clear indication of his talent and this bands enormous potential.

Folk music is not always popular in a city such as Glasgow known for its large underground scene. Allow yourself to listen to the bands few songs they have put out on their Facebook page and Jacks soothing guitar compiled with a very talented Abigail on violins can even captivate the most enthusiastic electronic music fan. It’s often said that a man and a guitar can produce some of the best songs ever written, however who knew that a man with a guitar and a violin could produce such bliss. Every band has its standout song and for the Paper Crowns it’s ‘Alibi’. ‘ Rest your head upon my shoulder and tell tales of shared emotions’  is just a snippet of how the lyrics in the songs convey a the message.  The 'Paper Crowns' are close to being the next best thing all they need to do is keep doing what they are doing and no doubt good things will come for the pair.
