Solange At Night + Day
I have a confession to make; I think I’m in love with Solange. Now I am a straight woman in a relationship but that does not change a thing, the woman is mesmerising. Dubbed by some as the ‘Hipster Beyonce’ (Beyonce is her sister if you didn’t already know) she is making more and more waves in the Indie community, and I predict she is going to be big.
At Field Day Festival, she mesmerized the crowd with her deep voiced singing and hypnotic dancing. To see Solange dance is quite something to behold. Unlike her sister Beyonce who’s dancing can come across as frantic at times Solange moves with an easy grace across the stage, dancing energetically in a way that seems to come easy to her and the music.
If you missed Solange at Field Day you can next see her at Night + Day, a series of three mini-festivals curated by The XX taking place in Lisbon, Berlin and London. On 22nd June at London Hatfield House Solange will perform, joined by Mount Kimbie, Kindness, Poliça and The XX themselves as well as some great DJs like Jamie XX. Solange is currently touring to promote her most recent album True. I definitely recommend going to see her at Night + Day, not only will you be blown away by her set but she’s also performing alongside some great acts.
