Daughter Set for Big Break at Glasto?

Indie | Thursday 6th June 2013 | Gabriel

In just a few weeks Glastonbury is set to kick off with the band Daughter earning a place on the famous John Peel Stage. The indie folk band have experienced a gradual rise in fame since formation in 2010. But the stage of Glastonbury could be just the setting needed to convert those millions of youtube views into chart success.

Recently in March this year they released they're beautiful debut album If You Leave which was critically well received whilst also managing to reach number 16 in the charts. This is a great start for a band formed only 3 years ago showing that success is just on the horizon. And to be able to casually mention that Glastonbury, one of the biggest festivals, as one of your gigs for the summer won't exactly hinder them in they're rise to mainstream fame.

The chilling single 'Medicine' is absolutely stunning in its gentle tone yet haunting undercurrent. I would not suggest that you walk through a creepily dark forest on your own whilst listening to 'Medicine', I can say that from first hand experience. There's then they're probably most famous single in 'Youth' played on the Tour De Frances advert on ITV last year whilst racking up over 11 million views on Youtube.

If you are in fact lucky enough to be going to Glastonbury this summer I would highly recommend you wonder over to the John Peel Stage on the Saturday and be truly mesmerized by Daughters absolute brilliance. Check out her cover of Daft Punk's hit single 'Get Lucky' if you don't believe me!
