London hosts one of the most eagerly anticipated concerts of the calendar year this weekend as legendary Manchester quartet The Stone Roses play two sell-out gigs at Finsbury Park.
The shows are the band's first in the capital since their reformation in 2011 following a fifteen-year split. The reunion led to the band playing three homecoming shows at Manchester's Heaton Park twelve months ago with 220,000 tickets being snapped up in a matter of minutes. The gigs became the fastest selling UK shows of all-time and now the band bring their seminal collection of hits to London.
With the weather forecast looking promising, the gigs are sure to be one of the most exciting alternative events of the year. Support on Friday 7th June comes from Rudimental, fellow Mancunians The Courteeners and UK grime legend Dizzee Rascal. Saturday 8th June, meanwhile, sees Miles Kane, Public Image Ltd and former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr play.
If you weren't fortunate to get tickets for Finsbury Park, you can catch The Stone Roses documentary Made of Stone in cinemas now. The film is directed by Shane Meadows (director of This Is England and Dead Man's Shoes) and gives a deep insight into the band's resurrection.
