Ever since the impeccable ‘Hey Now’ surfaced online just before Christmas, the buzz surrounding London Grammar has been absolutely astonishing. With an air of mystery shadowing their every move the critically acclaimed trio, comprised of Hannah Braid, Dot Major and Dan Rothman have already released three stellar singles, and to the surprise of many even feature as guests on the final track of the new Disclosure record.
Following on from the breath-taking ‘Hey Now’ and ‘Metal and Dust’, the band’s latest single ‘Wasting My Young Years’ is a delicate, melancholic song that’s minimalist electronics and soaring vocals conjure up a torrent of emotions within. Crushingly soft, Braid’s vocals are delivered with an ice-cold delicacy, padding out the bands ambient soundscape with an eerie passion that is absolutely stunning. There is something about London Grammar’s music that demands the listener’s entire focus, shutting out the life around it in a dark, twisted show of musical virtue.
Expect a debut album from the band towards the end of 2013.
