Fame Is Starting To Show For The 1975

Indie | Friday 31st May 2013 | Cameron

Following a hectic end to 2012, The 1975 have continued to flourish in the first half of 2013, with their meteoric rise to stardom put into perspective as they admit having to turn down support roles for some of the biggest artists in the world.

Frontman Matt Healy admitted that the band had turned down the chance to support Rhianna, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Paramore, Fall Out Boy and 30 Seconds to Mars all in the past couple of weeks. The band acknowledged that it would have been great to go on tour with Rhianna ‘for the fun of it’, but say they are still fully committed to their pre-planned American dates with indie group The Neighbourhood.

However, it’s not all bad news for the group as they did manage to squeeze in a support spot with Muse at the Emirates Stadium last weekend. Hopefully performing in front of thousands of crazy Muse fans would soften the blow of rejecting the others.
