Yeah Yeah Yeahs release video for 'Sacrilege'

Indie | Wednesday 27th March 2013 | Becca

Following the release of new track 'Sacrilege' from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's upcoming 4th studio album, 'Mosquito', a video to go alongside it emerged online this week.

When the single was released, we knew it had a religious theme to it as it involves a gospel choir at the end, and is titled ‘Sacrilege’. So it’s not much of a surprise that the video explores religion, and in particular the hypocrisy of it.

The video stars British model Lily Cole. We see her involved in a series of  raunchy encounters with a series of different men and one woman, in what looks like a close-knit community in America. Ms. Cole faces the consequences of her actions when she is brutally burnt to death while all the people she was involved with look on. How pleasant.

The story is told backwards, which is clever. As at the start we see her being murdered and we feel sorry for this victim, but as the video goes on and we see all the events which led up to that moment, your opinion changes of the girl.

None of the band members are seen in the video, and it’s almost like a short film, as it’s very well produced and shot.

Take a look.
