Guestlist Recommends – Outfit

It’s safe to say I’m a pretty big Outfit fan. In fact if you look up any amateur reviews of the band it’s likely you’ll find some of my work, it’s likely a bit weird. But I’m totally smitten by their rain-pop scouse charm because of their fantastic sense of atmosphere with intelligent and yet catchy tunes.
Sound-wise they can be a bit hard to pin point. They’ve got the 80s beats of a copy, the rhythm of recent touring partners Everything Everything with the dual frontmen and underlying dark nature of Wild Beasts.
It’s that last point that always appeals to me although unlike the Beasts they have relatively few ‘love songs’ that so many bands fill their catalogue with but instead they have tracks telling tales of social isolation and self-discovery. Check them out NOW (below) because I fear they’re destined to either be a classic band that never broke or have an Alt-J-esk U-turn to mainstream acceptance.
Outfit will be unvieling new singe 'Performance' later this week, which just happens to be the same name as their album out at some point this year, hopefully soon.
