Wednesday 6th March 2013 | Serena
Simply think of a futuristic 3D diva gown. Now think about the ultimate diva Dita Von Teese. Join them (thanks to the genius of Michael Schmidt) and you will have something fantastic. i know what your thinking, this cant be real,l but it is 100%!
The most famous burlesque dancer presented at the Ace Hotel in New York the first ever 3D printed-dress , created with the help of the designer Schmidt , already creator of outfits for Cher and Lady Gaga, and of the architect (yes, that's right, an architect behind a dress) Francis Bitonti.
With an hint of Dita's old-school glamour and the futuristic ideas of Schmidt, the dress was made thanks to a digital rendering technology with the assistance of Shapeways, a 3D printing company, who create this dress with a fabric-like substance called powdered nylon, embroidered with 12,000 black Swarosky crystals.
Quite unique, uh?
