The Petricca’s band performed last Wednesday at Scala as a closure to their UK tour
This Indie-poppy quartet from Ohio are getting bigger and bigger, and building a strong fan base in the UK. With engaging tunes and evocative lyrics, Walk the Moon really knows how to touch the audience. There is something about their energy that gets into you and makes you jump and sing along with songs as their first single 'Anna Sun' and 'Next in Line' or the sexy 'Shiver Shiver'. Equiped with their usual face paint, last Wednesday they came to scene after two support bands, Pink and The Rubens. The second one is an Australian band which they will be supporting in their Australian tour. The audience was enjoying the concert as the lead singer told everybody that at that moment this was a free space, so they can take off the politeness English suit and feel free to do whatever they want, as he was stretching and touching slowly the upper part of his body. He was really concerned about people delighting and freeing their minds. Then people just sit in the shoulders of other people (at least 3) and keep on jumping, moving the arms and singing along. The band also played tracks from their independently released album I want I want! that are not included in the debut album Walk the Moon, and also exclusive new material they are working on, which will be released in about two weeks. This band has been really influenced by the 80’s, not only because they named the band after The Police song, and for their last EP Tightrope they made a version of a Talking Heads song, but also because they have this spirit of connecting with the audience, and conserving this innocence and humbleness of playing for the first time and wanting to become one with their fans. The band will come back in April to London to perform in the O2 Arena.
