The world’s most famous fictional family have put their own spin on Baauer’s ‘Harlem Shake’
The ‘Homer Shake’ copies the YouTube sensation The Harlem Shake (where it has been estimated that there are over 40,000 Harlem Shake videos on YouTube) The video begins with the family sitting on the couch whilst Maggie dances with a helmet on, before the family join in.
The animated sitcom, which has been aired yearly since 1989 and holds over 500 episodes used the Homer Shake clip (which includes other famous Springfield residents joining in the dance craze) as a teaser for the next episode featuring in the 24th series which began in the US in September last year.
Canadian DJ Baauer who has worked alongside The Prodigy, released the Harlem Shake in May 2012 yet the track took off in 2013 due to thousands of people uploading videos of the dance onto youtube, making the song go to number 1 in several countries, including the United States. This is due to the new rule that YouTube hits will contribute to chart positions.
The Simpsons, infamously known for cameos of top celebrities has the appearances of Zooey Deschanel, Danny DeVito and Justin Bieber amongst other A listers in the new series.
