Yeah Yeah Yeahs release 'Sacrilege'

Indie | Wednesday 27th February 2013 | Becca

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back with upbeat religious themed single, ‘Sacrilege’.

Karen O, Nick Zinner and Brian Chase are to release the new album Mosquito, on 16th April this year, and if this single is anything to go by, the band have decided to go in a slightly different direction.

‘Sacrilege’ still contains catchy guitar lines, and plenty of synthed up vocals from Karen O, but the gospel choir that comes in at the end of the track is pretty shocking twist that wasn’t expected from the New York natives.

If the band came from the southern states of America, the link between them and a gospel choir could be made I guess. But seeing as this has come out of the blue, it’s going to be interesting to see what other surprises the rest of the album holds. Have the band been on a religious road of spiritual, self-discovery since the last album? Let’s see.
