Sexiest video of the moment: 'Disintegration'

UK band Monarchy and queen of burlesque Dita Von Teese’s collaboration is the most tasteful erotic video that we’ve seen in the past years. The story of the 50’s sexually frustrated house-wife who fantasizes with the masquerade duo and an orgy of naked bodies, has become an outstanding partnership which has let us see Von Teese vocal qualities, in addition of her usual charms.
The collaboration was born when Dita invited the British duo to spend Christmas with her in 2011 after seeing them perform at Coachella. In this meeting they came with the idea and decided write a song for her. “The whole song is about disintegrating into a relationship, losing the sense of self. It’s that post sex moment, when the mind goes blank, but as a metaphor for losing yourself in a relationship, that blankness”, the band said.
Directed by Tel Aviv-based Roy Raz, -who also collaborated with Monarchy for the video of their song ‘I Won’t Let Go’- and with the performance of Israel’s young Batsheva Dance Company, ‘Disintegration is a combination of Von Teese sirens’ voice and Monarchy’s synth-soaked beats of soulful dance. The band said they considered doing an x-rated version of the video someday, but in my opinion, sometimes it’s better to suggest than to show and the femme fatale it’s a living proof of that. As Armstrong says: “There should be something reserved, unreachable, unobtainable about an ideal muse—close enough to inspire but just out of reach to keep the mystery”.
Monarchy are Andrew Armstrong and Ra Black and they define their music as “glacial pop with a throbbing undercurrent of humanity”. The group was formed in 2009 performing at Cape Canaveral in Florida, Coachella and Love Box festivals amongst others. Their previous album Around the Sun contains outstanding tracks such as ‘The Phoenix Alive’ or ‘You Don’t Want To Dance With Me’ (feat. Britt Love). ‘Disintegration’ will be part of the new album they are currently preparing.
