Can You Hit That Dougie Right?

For as long as I can remember there have always been three types of people: ones who can dance, ones who can groove and ones who are better off standing against the wall looking pretty. The first type are real dancers. Dancing is what they do! It's in their blood and it's a crime against nature to stop them doing otherwise. The people who can groove aren't the best dancers, but they can move their body in a way that looks alright and doesn't put others in harm's way. But the third type...oh dear...somebody get them some pads and a helmet! They look like they could hurt somebody every time they start moving about! But have no fear, Adrian's here! Be honest to yourself: which type are you? Regardless, here are some dance crazes you can teach yourself to stop yourself getting embarrassing and putting a spectator's eye out.
Dougie
If you STILL can't dougie then what are you waiting for?! People are still hitting that dougie all around the world and working that dougie fresh into whatever little routine they can. A nice, simple, easy dance that can be done anywhere to pretty much any song, The Dougie is a must to anybody's dancing arsenal.
Azonto
Azonto is a dance style that started in Ghana to rival Nigeria's Etighi dance style. The style focuses a lot on full body involvement, from your head and shoulders to your knees and toes. But despite using your entire body, this dance is so easy, calm and fluid! That's the beauty of Azonto: you don't need to work hard to be able to Azonto! It's a craze that spread across the world quickly and is very useful in dancing to Afro beats, funky house and bashment so the next time you hear these songs come on the speakers, whip out some Azonto and show them how it's done!
Cat Daddy
If you've got some dougie under your belt you MUST complement it with some cat daddy! The cat daddy is SO easy to do. Four simple moves with a little swag added and BLAM! You're doing the cat daddy...easy as Spongebob flipping Krabby Patties.
Jerk
It's been a while since "You're A Jerk" came out but everybody loves a good Reject now and again. Jerking is in its more mature but it always helps to have whatever moves you can get under your belt. Here's Audio Push to teach you some of the most common, basic jerking moves so you won't be caught standing around the next time "You're A Jerk" comes on in the club.
Shuffle
EVERYBODY fist pumps or jumps up and down in a rave. Only the true dons can shuffle. Some people mistake shuffling for just stomping around like Godzilla so to make sure you're not one of them, brush up on your shuffling skills! It's a little tricky with that kind of footwork but once you get it down, you'll be golden (and you'll get buns of steel from all that practice!)
Gangnam Style
As hard as it is for me to admit, you've gotta know how to Gangam style in this day and age. As the first video ever to reach one billion views on YouTube, Gangnam style kinda deserves this kinda attention to the dance. So whether you love or hate it, don't be the only one on the dancefloor caught standing still while everybody is prancing around yelling "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY SEXY LAY-DEH!" Keep calm and Gangnam style.
Various skanks
There have been a TON of skanking crazes that have hit the UK over the years so it's a crime not to know at least one or two. Very easy and fun to do with a bunch of friends, get funky with a few of these prime tunes!
I could go on and on with all sorts of other dances (stanky legg, chicken noodle soup, 2-step, walk it out, Yung Joc, Crank That dance, Cameo Candy dance, twerking, grinding, snap, yada yada yada) but that will be for YOU to find out. These are the most popular styles of dance I've noticed that are still around so make sure you're practicing these whenever you can. You won't exactly light up the dancefloor if you only learn the basics, but at least you can join the party instead of stand glued up to the wall. Good luck!
