Almost Famous and standing strong!

Indie | Monday 26th November 2012 | Osh

Check out the future lifeblood of the music industry in a free event next Wednesday

Almost Famous is a showcase featuring the best new acts in the music scene. Next Wednesday 28th November,  four bands whose careers are just starting but who have already got EP’s on the market and toured supporting famous musicians, will show what are they made of. They’re still labeled as ‘almost’ famous, but it’s just a matter of time for these artists to be in everyone’s lips.

This time the show will feature singer/songwriter Allman Brown, who is currently under the wing of producer’s duo Paul Herman (Emeli Sande, Dido) and James Bryan (Nelly Furtado). His soulful independent sound, reflected in his debut single, ‘Woman’, has been heard all over London’s live circuit and even landed him spots in acoustic clubs in Paris and New York.

You can also have a taste of original indie sounds from Grass House, who like Leonard Cohen, sing darkly poetic lyrics, and have been described as ‘strange, slightly unwieldy, but oddly compelling’. They recently released their last single ‘The Boredom Rose’ on indie label Dancing Coins. Moreover, the supporters of Echo & the Bunnymen’s tour, Coves, who were formed only one year ago will present their EP ‘Cast A Shadow. The band has enlisted followers such as Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Nick Grimshaw from Radio 1 and will be supporting Eugene McGuinness’ on his forthcoming UK tour this November.

The showcase will be headlined by the edgy pop sounds of Jenn D, who will offer her debut London performance including her single ‘Lose it’, which has caught the eye of PopJustice and tipped as ‘one to watch’ by Radio 1’s Peter Robinson & Huw Stephens. She also has teamed up with Rymez and TMS.

Previous Almost Famous performers have included, Luke Sital-Singh, The TenFiveSixty, James Jay Picton, Mercury-winning Speech Debelle, Kill it Kid, Jamie N Commons and Bobby Long, whose music is included in hit-vampire-flick Twilight.

The event is free, but you must get your name on the guest list here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/4547032296#, as It's based on a first come first served basis. Doors open at 6.45pm and the first band will start at 7.30pm.
