The Canadian band just released a video for the single ‘Lofticries’
With their debut electro-pop album, Shrines - which was created between January 2011 and April- out and about, the Canadian duo are now prepared to hit the UK with their electro sounds and skin-crawling lyrics. Shrines was recorded in an unusual way, as while Corin Roddick composed the beats in Montreal, Canada, Megan James added the lyrics in Halifax, in the other side of the country. Then Roddick took back the material again to make the final arrangements.
Roddick’s technique, known as side-chaining, which “It's like using negative space to create feeling and movement," he explained to Rolling Stone, creates big dips in volume. And James lyrics are literally taken from the journals, sometimes even using fully intact passages. We don’t know if they are practicing chastity, as the band name suggests, but in terms of music, they are totally the other way around, mixing and defying the genre. Their last video for ‘Lofticries’ it’s an example of it.
