The Foo Fighters’ frontman will take his place behind the drum kit for Queens Of The Stone Age’s next album.
Every cloud has a silver lining. The Foo Fighters may be on hiatus, but nothing is going to stop Dave Grohl from making music. And what better way to do it than to reforge an old partnership? Grohl, who drummed on QOTSA’s massive album Songs For The Deaf in 2002, is back with Josh Homme and co for the band’s highly anticipated new record.
The duo have a long history of working together, other than Grohl’s involvement on Songs For The Deaf – Homme played guitars on the Foo Fighters’ In Your Honour in 2005, and the two formed super group Them Crooked Vultures with legendary Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones three years ago. Grohl will be replacing former QOTSA drummer Joey Castillo, who left the band recently.
There’s no release date for the album, which will be the band’s sixth, and their first for five years. However, in an interview with Zane Lowe, Homme assured fans that it would be available in advance of QOTSA’s performance at Download Festival in June. I'll be there, and I'm fully expecting my mind to be blown by awesomeness.
