Unsung Lilly launch at The Bedford

Unsung Lilly celebrated the launch of their EP in style when they performed at The Bedford this week.
The five member band, are spending much of October playing gigs around London and chose The Bedford, which has seen the likes of James Morrison, KT Tunstall and Paolo Nutini perform there, to launch their EP, Time Changes Minds.
With a buzzing crowd and two excellent support acts, Alex Louise and Rob Castell, the atmosphere was excellent for an upcoming band. Unsung Lilly, whose EP recording style was inspired by John Mayer’s Continuum album, have been likened to Fleetwood Mac, Maroon 5 and Tori Amos. This is quite an achievement for a band who has only been recording their own music since April, when keyboard player and singer Frankie joined.
Wednesday evening saw them burst onto the stage in The Bedford with the very popular ‘Time Changes Minds’, switching it up afterwards with the upbeat ‘Happy’. By this point the whole audience was revved up and moving to the beat of the music. As the set continued, no-one could deny this upcoming band has talent especially when the contrasting vocals of Sera and Frankie were shown in full force.
It was also clear that the old school sounds of blues, jazz and soul had influenced their style. Sera emphasised this by saying: “the music industry has been full of more electronic music for a long time now, and … we’re hoping to take things back to basics again and get back to that wonderful ‘real’ vibe that bands had back in the day.”
Their raw sound has attracted audiences from across the world and can be felt within every song. This was experienced more than ever in The Bedford when they played nine original songs and a cover of ‘Roxanne’.
