Rachel Fannan- tastic

It’s a well-known fact that I love a crier of a song. I’m a woman: it’s my prerogative to bawl my eyes out face first into a bowl of brownies and ice-cream. Something about beautiful vocals has the ability to reach into my chest and hold my ribs so tight I feel like my heart might burst with joy and sorrow.
Rachel Fannan is an American singer-songwriter & musician. Her eclectic musical style & emotive vocal ability have stolen the hearts of many of those lucky enough to have witnessed this beautiful soulful voice. After recuperating from her recently forfeited role as co vocalist for psyche rock band Sleepy Sun, she has teamed up with Micayla Grace (Leopold & His Fiction) backing her on bass as well as vocally. Other alternating members of Fannan's new sound include Hunter Burgan (Tegan & Sara, AFI), Rich Good (Kings & Queens, Psychedelic Furs), Carla Azar (Autolux), Cecilia Della Peruti (Rumspringa), Evan Weiss (Slang Chickens, Wires On Fire) & Dash Hutton (Slang Chickens, Papa). The lady has a lot of musical man power behind her and it’s clear why other artists would want to work with her. Her voice is soft and welcoming, a velvet sound with an occasional raspy pang of pain. The harmonies in Let Me Sing You Love Songs are a beautiful match giving the song the feel of a haunted lullaby, a dream of lost loves. The guitars play gently with the occasional twang as if plucking on the heart strings of the song's conscious.
I was contemplating whether or not to make this the indie weekend anthem, however I feel that we need something a little more uplifting and so right now I’m calling this my weekend "bottle of wine and a good book night in" anthem – it’s a little wordy I know, I’ll work on it. Although Rachel Fannan has no tour dates set to hit the UK you can bother her something silly on her myspace page and hopefully that will pay off.
So pop down to your local offy , get some discount pinot and have a listen.
