Soundgarden announces first new album in 16 years

Indie | Tuesday 18th September 2012 | Osh

Seattle-based grunge trailblazers, Soundgarden, will continue their successful reunion this year with the release of their new album, dubbed King Animal. This will be their first full-length release in over fifteen years, pursuing a live album, Live 1-5, and their 2010 compilation release, Telephantasm. The album was produced by Adam Kasper, who has worked with the likes of Foo Fighters, Nirvana and Pearl Jam - so we're expecting stellar mixing! The first single, (ironically?) titled 'Been Away Too Long', will be available from the 27th September.

According to the band's Chris Cornell, the album spans from 'the terrors and vulnerabilities of parenthood' to a more explosive 'cynical take on the powers behind political thrones'. In King Animal, Soundgarden agree that they have stuck very much to their altrock guns, much to the relief of the music scene, which has arguably seen too much change lately (perhaps due to the impending End Of The World).

The tracklisting for the album is as follows:

01 Been Away Too Long
02 Non-State Actor
03 By Crooked Steps
04 A Thousand Days Before
05 Blood on the Valley Floor
06 Bones of Birds
07 Taree
08 Attrition
09 Black Saturday
10 Halfway There
11 Worse Dreams
12 Eyelid's Mouth
13 Rowing
