Fashionate London

Just like the Queen of our glorious country who has two birthdays, fashion in Britain gets celebrated twice a year in a party known to you and me as London Fashion Week.
Yes this bi annual event, which sets the fashion agenda for the following season’s trends, has once again descended on the city.
You can’t swing a cat without hitting a model, designer or fashionista in her (or his) totally over the top, inappropriate and jaw droopingly expensive outfit.
But what have been the highlights so far?
Milliner to the stars Philip Treacy, who’s not staged a show in the capital for 13 years, used Michael Jackson as his inspiration for an off-the-wall collection. With only black models walking (though surely some white girls should have been thrown in for a real MJ feel), each wore items from the King of Pop’s own wardrobe, teamed with a Treacy hat. And to top it off Lady Gaga opened up the show in a towering pair of platforms by Alexandra McQueen and a pink gown which covered her face and head. She then proceeded to watch the rest of the show from her front row seats in a gigantic floral hat/mask hybrid.
Hitting the catwalk as her showcase finished, Vivienne Westwood strutted around in some short shorts with some strange face designs. With a black circle drawn round her left eye, and a felt tipped moustache she looked more like a comic book villain then our celebrated queen of punk. Unfazed, the legendary British designer received a huge round of applause from her delighted audience.
Henry Holland, all the cool kids go to designer, once again showcased a fun, frivolous and who gives a fuck kind of collection. With his loyal FROWers Kelly Osbourne, Pixie Geldof and Alexa Chung all in tow, House of Holland’s colourful print fest inspired by “grunge, glamour and glory” was a success.
Continuing with Mr Holland, the man of the moment has teamed up with Ebay to launch its first designer pop-up shop in the UK. It’s part of the partnership between Ebay and the British Fashion Council, helping emerging talent and the development of designers and their business.
Towie girls attending shows. Whoever sent out their invites was surely being ironic. Right?! Lauren Goodger made an appearance along with lips that resembled a severe allergic reaction. Maybe it’s the season of the trout pout.
As London Fashion Week rages on keep up to date with all things style related in order to be ahead of the trends for Spring Summer 13. Or if you couldn’t care less, then just enjoy the ride for the craziness it produces.
