The French instrumentalist singer-songwriter has an upcoming album inspired beneath the sea. She moved to her grandparent’s house in Cavalière, France, looking for isolation and peaceful environments to get the inspiration and vibes that the album emanates. Melody Prochet, who studied classical music for 12 years, breaks all the patterns transforming the album in a pop based psychedelic trip, just conserving the melodic classicism. Her latest video, ‘I Follow You’, directed by Laurie Lassalle, was filmed under the water and reflects a psychedelic color pallet that matches perfectly with the essence of the melody.
The self-titled album, which will be released the 25th September in the US and the 5th November in Europe, contains songs such as the already released ‘Crystallized’ which is “a kaleidoscopic fusion of psych rock and warm hypnotic pop, fusing her influences of Pram and Spiritualized” and ‘Be Proud of Your Kids’, which samples a young girl. She got the idea of including a kid because when she was young, she used to babysit and record the kids, “because it's so inspiring. It's like they're tripping or something”.
For the album production, she partnered with Tame Imapala’s leader Kevin Parker, who helped with the recording and mixing. She said about their first encounter: “Two years ago my old band My Bee's Garden supported Tame Impala in Europe. We got along and we shared a lot of songs and it just blossomed into collaboration. It started with just a couple songs but it was really easy to work together. Complimentary opposites”. The album, recorded between Australia and France, is proof that opposites match together.
