Chris Martin says Muse's new single 'Madness' is their best song ever Indie | Thursday 23rd August 2012 | Osh Like what? Okay, 'Madness' probably isn't a bad surprise. And it surely is quite a catchy tune that combines a pop vibe à la Mika with a new found dubstep sound. And it is definitely interesting in its subtle nature with a bit of a Queen edge to it. Fair enough. But their best tune? Considering how close the Coldplay singer is to Muse – his band was Muse's opening act 13 years ago – maybe this is a classic case of missing the forest for the trees. Muse produced songs one could easily call hymns. Only think of utter hits like 'Stockholm Syndrome', 'Hysteria' and 'Citizen Erased'! Compared to these, 'Madness' rather goes unsung. It by far isn't as grasping. That doesn't mean the album isn't eagerly anticipated and it doesn't mean that Muse aren't a brilliant band. If only, it means that Chris Martin is a little confused.
