Anna Piaggi Remembered

Tuesday 7th August 2012 | Osh

The fashion world mourns the loss of revered Vogue Italia fashion contributor, eccentric and glamorous style icon and fashion journalist Anna Piaggi who has passed away today, aged 81.

According to Manolo Blahnik, Piaggi was the “worlds last authority on frocks” and her infamous double paged spreads (Doppie Pagine) in Vogue Italia pushed the boundaries of creativity and design. Back in 2008 the Victoria and Albert Museum dedicated an entire exhibition to her colourful and extraordinary career in fashion journalism. The exhibition, 'Anna Piaggi Fashion-ology’, featured an array of garments from her personal archive and with her flamboyant style Piaggi’s wardrobe was a reflection of her daring and artistic personality. A standout regular on fashion front rows, Anna Piaggi was always a sight to behold with her blue hair and beautifully eccentric outfits. The list of publications she has worked for is endless and if there is one thing that Piaggi stands for it is not being scared to stand out and express your own personality through fashion.

Celebrities have remembered Anna Piaggi as the style icon and inspiration that she was and will remain to be. Dita Von Teese tweeted - "So sad to hear that Anna Piaggi, one of my last icons of beauty & fashion has passed, she was the height of glamorous eccentricity". Piaggi served as an inspirational muse to the likes of Malono Blahnik, Karl Lagerfeld and Stephen Jones and will remain a an inspiration for years to come.
