Thursday 2nd August 2012 | Osh
It has just been announced that Valentino will be showcasing over 130 dresses in an exhibition at Somerset House this coming November. The Italian designer is adored for his exquisitely designed couture dresses and elegant, romantic red carpet gowns that have been worn by Hollywood starlets such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren.
Valentino’s magnificent 50 year career will be displayed through the dresses in the diligently curated exhibition that focuses on his haute couture designs. It has been confirmed that some of his more famous creations will be included in the exhibition predominantly the monochrome, vintage Valentino gown that Julia Roberts wore when she won an Oscar in 2001 for her role in Erin Brockovich. On top of that, Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ 1968 Wedding dress will be on display, in all its off-shoulder and princess-like style. Valentino consistently creates wonders of dresses that are both stunning and wearable and it is sure to be a breath-taking experience.
The exhibition starts on 29 November 2012 and will run for three months until March 2013 at Somerset House. Judging by his recent collection for Autumn/ Winter 2012-13 it will be an inspiring and stunning showcase of a revered designer’s work.
