The legendary Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac last night tweeted the news and stated that after hearing it she “faints with excitement”.
Bjork, the Icelandic singer who is reported to have sold over 15 million albums worldwide, achieved success in the UK in the 1990s with three of her singles charting in the top 10: ‘It’s Oh so Quiet’, ‘Army of Me’ and ‘Hyperballad’. Renowned for her work in the alternative and electronic genres Bjork has had a career spanning over 30 years and now looks to team up with one of the most recognisable voices in the world for a new documentary.
David Attenborough meanwhile has remained long unattached from the music industry, with a career panning over 50 years as the voice to natural history programmes, perhaps best highlighted by the eminent Life series starting in 1979 with Life on Earth. One thing is for certain the collaboration of the two will offer an interesting insight into the music industry and Attenborough’s distinctive voice will undoubtedly provide moments of brilliance when looking into the world of spoken sound.
As someone who often fantasises of Attenborough’s voice reeling off a constant commentary for my own life, when released, this is a programme that will not be missed.
