Rio Ferdinand, the Manchester United defender and one of football's most notorious tweeters with 3 million followers has been giving his followers an insight into his film collection in recent days in a series of tongue-in-cheek tweets which seem to be a direct reference to his brother's current court case - respectively allegations that he was racially abused by Ex England captain John Terry.
His younger brother Anton is stating that Terry used racially aggravated language towards him at a Barclays Premier League match last season. Rio’s timely Tweets in support of his brother have caught the attention of tweeters across the nation. On the first day of the trial the Manchester United defender tweeted: ‘Film of the day: Liar Liar… starring Jim Carey. What a film!’ he followed it up on day two of the trial with another tweet, ‘Film of the day: A Cock and Bull Story starring Steve Cogan. What a watch.’
John Terry is denying any wrongdoing and his defence team is adamant that the racist slur was him reiterating an accusation made against him. Rio Ferdinand through the medium of Twitter has possibly given his followers a clue to what he feels about the trial and where his loyalties lie. It will be interesting to see what else is in Ferdinand’s film collection as the trial continues...
