Nightwave 'The Feel Ep' Svetlanda Industries

The first time I ever came across Nightwave’s music, I was lucky enough to experience it live. Back in December last year she supported Rustie as part of the Dazed Digital x River Island party at SWG3. What struck me about her set was the way she was seemingly immersed in the music, paying close attention to detail whilst maintaining a connection with the crowd.
This skill is evident in her latest EP released by Svetlana Industries. The tracks are a heady mix of heavy bass and whirring synths, which are interlaced with carnival vibes and lilting lyrics. Nightwave’s productions make you want to jump up and dance but have an underlying chilled out vibe which simultaneously stops you in your tracks. There’s something addictive about the track ‘Feel’ in particular, the bassline never fails to make me resemble Churchill the nodding dog. Even the most stripped back ambient track ‘You are My High’ has an underlying darkness akin to Swedish duo ‘The Knife’.
Nightwave is definitely one to watch for in 2012. You can catch her live alongside the Lucky Me crew at Sonar Festival in Barcelona, and supporting the legendary MJ Cole at the Lock Tavern on the 29th of June. The 'Feel EP' is available in digital format and on vinyl via http://boomkat.com
