Formed over a decade ago, The Killers are on track for their fourth studio album, called ‘Battle Born’.
The follow-up to 2008’s ‘Day & Age’, the frontman Brandon Flowers’ solo spat, and hard work in the studio, The Killers have spent the last year working on ‘Battle Born’. Mainly recorded in Las Vegas, the album will be released in the autumn.
‘Battle Born’ was given its name thanks to the band’s home studio, and is the nickname for the state of Nevada, where The Killers are from. Therefore, the record is thought to have more of a natural, organic sound, and drummer Ronnie Vanucci explained that the album really “lives up to its title!”
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, Brandon Flowers said the album also gets its name from the determined, fighting spirit many of us need to succeed. He stated that America has links to fighting for what you want in life; “In a sense, all Americans are battle born. Our ancestors came here for something more.”
Vanucci also described how “difficult” the record has been to create; to keep existing fans happy, and reach out to as many potential new fans as possible. The Killers have had a signature, individual sound since they first started releasing music, and after three albums, it’s a wonder that individuality hasn’t ebbed away.
Song titles for the new record include ‘Flesh and Bone’, ‘Runaway’, ‘Heart of A Girl’ and ‘Carry Me Home’, and the band have worked with Madonna and many other producing heavyweights to create ‘Battle Born’.
After their long break from the limelight as a band, The Killers are sure to be forgiven for the rumours they’d called it quits altogether if this album is half as good as their past work.
