Tuesday 22nd May 2012 | Osh
From the 6th of September until the 9th this year, Bestival 2012 will take over the Robin Hill Countryside Park in the Isle of Wight. Florence Welch (and her machine), will join Stevie Wonder and New Order atop the festival bill.
Florence and the Machine will headline the Friday night of the bash, and Rob Da Bank, the festivals organiser has said how glad he is that the songstress can join them. “Her shows for us at Bestival and Camp Bestival over the last few years have always been highlights for many…” he explained.
The xx will perform just before Florence, who was correctly predicted as the final headliner on several internet message boards, including the Bestival website itself and the NME website. After several show-stopping appearances at Bestival, and other festivals over the years, Florence and the Machine is an appropriate and popular choice for this year’s Bestival.
This year, Florence and the Machine has won two NME awards, an Elle Style Award, and been nominated for two BRIT awards. Her latest album ‘Ceremonials’ peaked at number 6 in the US Billboard 200 Chart, and her comparisons to Kate Bush, yet unique and interesting style have made her more admired than ever.
Other artists confirmed for the weekender festival include Two Door Cinema Club, The Horrors, Friendly Fires, Azealia Banks, Nero and Gallows.
