Throughout 2012 there will be a host of music and film related events in honour of the magnificent four, in their hometown of Liverpool.
Michael Eakin, chief executive of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra said ‘We’re delighted to be playing our part in this special Beatles anniversary, paying our tribute to the four Liverpool lads whose music continues to have an extraordinary impact around the world.’
August 19th is the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ very first show at the legendary Cavern. This will be honoured with gigs, talks and a convention for International Beatles Week.
In celebration of the release of the band’s debut single, the ‘Love Me Do’ weekend takes place on October 5-7 at Albert Dock.
Paul McCartney revealed earlier this month that when all the Beatles were still alive they considered reforming, but decided against it in case it ruined their legacy.
