Hottest MC’s Named

The ten hottest MC’s this year according to MTV have been named. Due to the controversy the list has caused in the past, MTV didn’t create one last year but, this year, they have decided to re- launch it.
Before this official list was even published, they released a list of rappers who had had a successful year but didn’t make it to the top ten. According to reports, the list instantly lost credibility from hip- hop fans when two of Roc Nation’s hottest MC’s from 2011, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar, weren’t included in the top ten. MTV followed this with a vote but decided to keep Wale on the list rather than replace him with J Cole. Wiz Khalifa and Detroit’s Big Sean are next on the list. Just above these two artists came rapper Meek Mill and Jay- Z. It is the top five though, that has really got people talking. Young Money/ Cash Money hold three of the top five spots with Lil Wayne at fifth place, Nicki Minaj at fourth and Drake holding the number two spot. Kanye made it to number three whilst Miami’s Rick Ross made it to the top.
MTV are apparently looking for artists who have had the most cultural impact rather than who sold the most in a year. Despite their justification, the list has come back to stir controversy once more.
