We talk to the king of waveiness if there was any such thing...
How’s your year been Mr Jetski?
This year has been amazing so far.
What’s been your highlight?
There's been a few, I went from being unknown to suddenly getting played in every club, getting millions of views on youtube, performing abroad but the biggest step in my career has been getting playlisted on Radio1
You're doing well through mixtapes and getting yourself out there how has your journey
been up till this point?
Right now im having fun making the music I like. Im just hopingIt can take it as far as I can this way
Are you loving the response from your tunes?
I never know what people are going to think but it's the best feeling to stand on stage have the crowd sing back all your lyrics back to you.
Let’s talk about your new single ‘The Wave’. What’s it about?
It was originally a dubplate I made for Dj Semtex but it sounded so good we turned it into a single and since then it's turned into a club record. Its about having fun and dancing with girls really.
What artists do you look up to for inspiration?
There's a variety but my biggest inspirations are Tupac and Michael Jackson.
What music influenced you when growing up?
I grew up in brixton so I took my influences from what everyone listens to around me which is mainly dancehall, rap and afro beats.
Do you have an album in the pipeline?
Most definitely its all coming together slowly.
You got your Jetski clothing were you involved in the designing of the clothes?
Yeah we were knocking around with loads of ideas but finally found one that would look good as well as represent the brand in the best way
What kind of style can we expect from your clothing line?
My clothing brand is all about being wavey and having a good time. Its colourful, smart, casual and not narrowed downto a specific look.
What’s the plan for the rest of the year?
Im hoping to put another single out and keep the buzz going into 2012. Maybe also a mixtape with some of the rappers from my area, I feel we've got a strong movement going on.
Heres a random question, if you were stranded on a desert island and could invite three famous people, who would you invite and why?
It would be Beyonce, Rhianna and Amanda from Cover Drive. We would write some hits together and maybe do some other fun stuff.
His mixtape 'Jetski Wave' is blowing up on the scene right now make sure you check that out!
