The Autumn-Winter 2011/2012 Fashion Mutant Collection

Bas Kosters is the talented fashion designer based in Amsterdam and TGN’s pick for September. Despite an extensive fashion education, his creations break the ranks. Bas Kosters doesn’t fit in a box, Bas Kosters is a concept. No-one can stop him; aside from designing garments, he paints, illustrates, makes dolls, objects, installations, music and performs shows. Indeed, he describes himself as an illustrator and an artist, and loves being involved in all aspects of the creative process.
His creations are oeuvres and he knows how to catch the public eye’s as the ripped silk fringe dress from the Fashion Mutant collection, inspired by mutation in nature, shows. Full of humour, his opulent uses of colour embody the changes in fashion industry, society and his life. Who said that Winter rhymes with austerity and the daily grind? Probably not Bas Kosters...
