This British DJ/Producer’s alias hints at the US road that runs from Chicago to Detroit, from the origins of house to the home of techno. His true identity was originally kept under wraps due to his transition from dubstep into deep house, but Route 94’s days of hiding his identity are behind him, and he is emerging as a prominent figure in the deep house genre.
Route 94 began receiving recognition from the likes of Skream and Benga, who predicted big things for him on their show on Radio 1. His first EP, Fly For Life, received an immense reception due to his identifiable style of mixing melodic beats with old school disco vibes, whilst adding a relevant and exciting nuance to the deep house genre.
Gaining further recognition through his remixes of the likes of Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ and Skream’s ‘Rollercoaster’, Route 94 is on his way to becoming a household name in the deep house department. Reaching number 1 in the UK charts on March 9th with ‘My Love’ (featuring Jess Glynn) is so far his most notable and commendable achievement, especially seeing as the track shows no hint of being altered or compromised for commercial success.
Route 94 seems to be a highly desirable artist to work with, one of his most exciting collabs taking the form of his and Second City’s remix of the Sugarbabes classic, ‘Freak Like Me’.
