A round up of London Fashion Week 2014

Other | Tuesday 18th February 2014 | Jaz Grewal

Today saw the end of London Fashion Week and we were given an insight into trends the UK’s capital showcased for this coming season. Autumn Winter shows gave strong references to geometrics and in particular squares, Teatum Jones played heavily on checkerboard and domino styled patterns whilst over at Mimi Fast squares were mixed with tweed and bright colours. Most designers also emphasised black and this season sees the return of monochrome, Nicole Farhi presented layered looks in black and over at PPQ and Simone Rocha the LBD made

a return for winter.

The main theme for AW14 was an array of print; florals and leaves gave a romantic twist at Burberry and over at DAKS coats, skirts and dresses were all adorned with the house check. A strong focus was also made on shoes and accessories this season; Manolo Blahnik designed an exclusive range of boots for Osman, Jonathan Saunders and Michael Van Der Ham both sent out models out in Louboutins.

Fashion and music collided as designers and musicians collaborated during fashion week. Jodie Harsh took the decks during Ashley Isham’s show of embellished dresses and skirts. PPQ closed their show to Bad Lazarus’ 2012 hit My Muddle, the show had a sixties theme with PVC and fur details on dresses. The Burberry show featured three live performances by Rhodes, Ed Harcourt and a closing performance of Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Jazz Queen Paloma Faith.
