The swinging RnB 1920's soundtrack

RnB/Hip Hop | Monday 20th May 2013 | Danielle

The final of the mind blowing tragic trilogies of Baz Luhrmann classic complex novel The Great Gatsby hit the cinemas almost a week ago and with mixed reviews from papers to glossy magazines it’s the headliner for the fantastic mixed modern 1920’s music. The track list has its fair share of deep soul to house, a little something for everyone. With some of the biggest names in the chart Will.i.am, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Florence and the machine and more work on a collaboration with Mr Luhrmann’s excellent ear for a soundtrack. Who would have thought incorporating a bit of dub step would go down so well with a movie based in the jazz age.

If it’s the story line that’s putting you off buying your cinema ticket at least check out the soundtrack first, listening to some of Will.i.am’s quirky beats might change your mind. For all those folks who didn’t get to experience the 1920’s with the shiny black tap shoes and the underground jazz parties this is the new era for the swinging “basey” 1920’s hit with a modern twist. Pull out your best bow tie, scrape back that hair and throw on some dub step.
